    La Belle Terrace at the Westcliff Hotel is superb for get-togethers, meetings or light meals. This unique dining venue offers views of the forest and the twinkling lights of Johannesburg.

    Fenchel Anis Kümmel Tee (Fennel, Anise, Caraway Tea)

    We’re having a lot of fun here in Poland – traveling, trying new food and drinks. Poznan, the city we live in, is fabulous, but we are also likely to make a weekend trip to Berlin or Prague. Not all of our fun outings are so glamorous. We’ve also gotten quite excited about riding on one of the brand new trams. And now I’m excited about fenchel anis kummel tee or fennel, anise, caraway tea from Germany.

    Last weekend, we went on a little road trip, not all the way to Berlin – just across the border to Frankfurt (Oder). The new highway has just been completed, and we wanted to see how it improved the drive. As long as we’d crossed the border, it seemed appropriate to make a field trip to a German supermarket. Not that there’s a shortage of sausage in Poland, but it’s not bratwurst.

    You may already know that I love hot tea with Sambuca. The flavor is wonderful, and it’s so soothing on a sore throat. When I saw this tea, I thought it make a nice non-alcoholic substitute, and it does. I bought two different brands to do a taste test. Because as much as I love Sambuca in my tea, once I start sipping it, the productive part of my day is probably over. This tea provides a soothing for the throat option that is suitable for morning, even on a work day!

    Here are the results – we were split down the middle. I like the tea on the right, Captains Tea. I found the licorice flavor stronger, and that’s what I love. The Teehaus brand, to me, tasted more herbal, more green, almost a bit of celery in the flavor. Ed picked Teehaus because the flavor was brighter.

    The tea is available on Amazon, so maybe it’s been on my supermarket shelves at home, and I just haven’t noticed.

      Alarm: Stiftung Warentest entdeckt Schadstoffe in ALLEN grünen Tees

      Da haben wir gerade erst über die positive Wirkung von Tee berichtet und dann das: Die Stiftung Warentest stellte in allen 25 getesteten grünen Tees Schadstoffe fest! Ausgerechnet in grünem Tee, der als unglaublich gesund gilt und den wir und Millionen andere Health-Freaks literweise trinken. Die halbwegs gute Nachricht: Fünf der Tees waren nur sehr gering belastet und erhielten daher die Note „gut“.

      Die restlichen Proben hatten es aber in sich: Gefunden wurden unter anderem Pyrrolizidinalkaloide und Anthrachinon, beide stehen in Verdacht, Krebserregend zu sein. Ein Tee (lose, aus dem Asia-Laden) war sogar so stark mit Pestiziden belastet, dass er „nicht verkauft werden dürfte“.

      Besonders schockiert hat uns, dass ausgerechnet der teuerste Tee (den wir übrigens auch sehr gerne trinken) von Kusmi so schlecht abgeschnitten hat und auch Bio-Tees teils ziemlich belastet waren! Und auch unser geliebter Matcha-Tee geriet ins Visier der Tester, denn da werden potentielle Schadstoffe vollständig mitgetrunken, da der Tee nicht aufgebrüht wird.

      In Panik muss trotzdem keiner verfallen, man sollte bloß nicht dauerhaft und immer wieder hoch-belastete Tees trinken. Dann kann sogar schon eine Tasse pro Tag zur Gefahr werden.
