We had a couple of drinks at the cafe. Service was very slow. Atmosphere was very relaxing and the view of the Römer was amazing.

The best coffee shop I found in Frankfurt, had an americano and one of their winter lattes. Go with one of their lattes, really well done. Great place for people watching and the ladies working there are super friendly as well. They have charging stations everywhere so come in for a break and recharge.

Meh, checked this place out while in Frankfurt. Both my husband and I were disappointed in our coffees. We got a sweet treat as well and didn't even finish it as it also wasn't great.

Had a decent coffee here yesterday. I also had a water and it was the same price as the coffee. I wanted tap water but they wouldn't give me any, even with an espresso this is unusual. My friends ordered a cake but it was stodgy and couldn't eat it. I did a yelp check in and a free be came up on the screen so I selected use now however none of the staff knew anything about it, they did call the manager who refused to honour it. Not impressed at all by this. Wont be back

Decent coffee with variety of pastries. WiFi is excellent and some tables have power outlets. So it's great for café working! Accepts credit card.

One of the best looking coffeeshops around and is close to the train station. I refused to pay for breakfast at my hotel and went here instead.
Ein Croissant natur und ein espresso, bitte. They are both OK. I was sitting by the window facing and looking at business boys, -men, and women rushing to work as the tram slowly crawls across the street.
That was my last day in Deutschland and I was contemplating what was happening to me for the past four months in this country. I miss this kind of cozy coffee shop that I'm used to in the states. I am drifting. It was emotional. I should just end the review here.

Great location for sitting outside in the sun and do people watching. The cappuccino is also lovely creamy.
Kaffee und Kuchen in Frankfurt
Yes, I know the image of sitting down to coffee and cakes in the afternoon, a German and Austrian tradition especially, has the feel of something your grandparents do. You totter over to the table in your Sunday best and linger for lack of anything better to do in retirement. But soft! Doesn’t a ritual built around good coffee and delicious pastries deserve more respect than that? As a matter of fact, it does.
The sweet spot for Kaffee und Kuchen (literally: coffee and cake) is between 3 pm and 5 pm in Frankfurt, with Saturdays and above all Sundays being the most popular days. If you really want to run through the routine, have a good brunch (see here for some choices) and then take in a museum, and have a Sunday stroll before re-energizing with some caffeine and sugar. This winter being rather mild, outdoor seating is not one of the question, especially when you’re taking in calories and hot beverages.
A few tips. If you order eine Tasse Kaffee, you will generally get a pretty compact cup, never enough for me. Try ein KГ¤nnchen, a pitcher that holds two healthy-sized cups. There are some classic cakes (ask for ein StГјck – one piece) and plenty of seasonal ones. Since Oct. 1 there has been a smoking ban in the state, Hesse, where Germany lies, so your cakes won’t tast like a kiss from a nicotine fiend.
Take a deep breath before pronouncing your order for a Schwarzwälderkirschtorte, a Black Forest Cake. Chocolate cake, whipped cream and cherries underpin this one, a dominant force in pastry in southwestern Germany.
The Sacher Torte originated at the Hotel Sacher in Vienna but is now almost universally available. The hard chocolate exterior reveals, well, more chocolate, and if it had been invented by a North American, it would have been called “Death by Chocolate.” Recipes can differ, and woe to the chef who serves a deviant Sacher Torte to a true believer.
The Austrians also gave the world the Linzer Torte, an almost gingerbread-y cake with raspberry preserves in it. A small piece does just fine, as this is a hearty one, perfect on a snowy day.
Places to go …
CafГ© Laumer is pretty close to the stereotypical granny cafГ©, with the marble tabletops and wooden chairs. Down the street from Frankfurt’s gorgeous Alte Oper (Old Opera), CafГ© Laumer also appears to do a pretty decent business-Kuchen trade, with bankers swapping stock tips over a Sacher. Bornheimer Landstr. 67. Subway U6 and U7 to the Westend station.
CafГ© Siesmayer is entirely contemporary in architecture and dГ©cor, with a massive selection of cakes where it’s hard to go wrong. Anything with a coffee component (e.g. cappucino cream) will please the taste buds immensely. Tour buses sometimes fill CafГ© Siesmayer to the brim because it abuts the Palmengarten, a beautiful botanical garden that can be the place for your walk, before or after. Siesmayerstr. 59. Subway U6 and U7 to the Westend station.
Wacker’s Kaffee has several locations in Frankfurt. Their cake selection is limited, but high-quality. Dynamite coffee selection as well, so make sure to take home a pound or two. The one located near the Bornheim Mittee subway station offers the cozy if sometimes enervating experience of the ultra-crowded neighborhood cafГ© where a lot of people know each other. Three locations in Frankfurt. My favorite is at Berger Strasse 184. Subway U4 to Bornheim Mitte.
The Deutsches Architekturmuseum (German Architecture Museum) does spring to mind when it comes to coffee and cake, and that’s a pity for those not in the know. A good selection can be had, ditto a view of the Main River. From there, you are in striking distance of many of Frankfurt’s best museums, including the one where you are sitting. Schaumainkai 43. Subway and Trams to Willy-Brandt-Platz, walk across the bridge.
My fond hopes would be for some nouvelle approaches to Kafee und Kuchen in the future, not only in Frankfurt. For some time you have been able to get plenty of coffee variations – espresso, cappucino, latte etc. – though nothing on the order of Starbucks. Now I’d love to see German pastry chefs ditch tradition while applying their impressive skills to cake innovation.
How about a pumpkin cranberry torte in the fall? Any chance of scoring raspberry chocolate during the summer months? Chocolate and peanut butter? And how about the cafГ© dГ©cor? I began this blog entry with a justifiable appeal to lay aside predjudice. But I’d love to be surprised.
Maybe these places already exist. I welcome the advice!

This sounds GREAT! I was a GI in Germany in the 60’s (FULDA) and am planning to visit again. This will be on my list
This entry alone is enough to make me book a ticket to Frankfurt right now where my internationally cool son lives. Are these places family-friendly?
No need to only go to Frankfurt, as any and all and every German city, even the smallest have their decent Cafe(s)
