Thompson Tee Review

Thompson Tee is one of the better known brands for sweat proof undershirt market, and they (kind of) got this entire industry into limelight with that Shark Tank story. Thompson Tee is likely the market leaders at this point in the increasingly crowded sweatproof undershirt market. This Thompson Tee review is based on the sample I received (V Neck models – original fit and slim fit) from the manufacturers.

While I received the samples free of charge, the following Thompson Tee Review is by objective opinion and is not influenced by the free samples. Thompson Tee also sells women's version of the undershirts which I suspect will work very similar to the men's version, but I did not test them (obviously!)

Sweat Proof Undershirt – Review Criteria and Methodology

To ensure consistency across multiple sweat proof undershirts, I've kept the following considerations while reviewing this category of products:

  • Sweat proof Performance – does it prevent sweat stains?
  • Odor Resistance – does the undershirt prevent the odor buildup?
  • Fabric quality – does the fabric feels good on skin, and is it durable?
  • Comfort – does the undershirt fit well? Does it feel comfortable?
  • Price – its an undershirt after all! 🙂

To provide an objective review of sweatproof undershirts, I will follow consistent methodology for all brands I review. I am wearing these undershirts, and go about my day as usual -including indoor and outdoors locations, and cold as well as warm areas. I wear them for 7 days and take the suggested washing care of the undershirts. At the end of the 7th day, I will summarize my experience with the undershirt.

Thompson Tee Review: Summary

Here is the bottomline if you do not want to read the full Thompson Tee review – Thompson Tee is definitely a safe choice for a sweatproof undershirt. Its a well known brand with great customer service, and undershirts that are quite effective at sweat proofing.

The quality of the fabric is a bit of let down (especially the original fit version), the fit is not the best and it does not have the odor prevention features offered by some other brands. The pricing is also on higher side compared to some other products in this category. While ThompsonTee is a well known brand, I do think there are better options out there now – definitely do your research and look at ItsDri or Ejis before you invest in ThompsonTee.

Thomson Tee Review: Full Details

Thompson Tee Review – Sweat Proof Performance

During the review period, I wore this undershirt in the month of June in NYC with temperatures often exceeding 80 degree fahrenheit, and was in open outdoor spaces as well as cramped indoor spaces.

Thomson Tee performs remarkably well in terms of sweat proofing performance. The stain marks did not show up on my shirt even for once over a 7 days period. The underarm padding is a little bit heavy for my liking, but it held up well.

Thompson Tee Review – Odor Resistance

Unlike some other sweatproof undershirt brands, Thompson Tee does not have an “odor resistance” feature. While the shirts are made up of bamboo cotton which have inherent antimicrobial properties, it does not work as well as some other brands – at the end of the day, the inner shirt does become a bit smelly.

This is not a deal breaker by any means. If you apply antiperspirant regularly and take due care of the shirt (e.g. washing it inside out), the odor is rarely worse than a regular undershirt.

Thompson Tee Review – Fabric Quality

Thompson Tee comes in two fabric variants – original fit, and slim fit.

Original fit shirts are made up with 100% combed cotton and mostly feels like a traditional undershirt (with slightly bulgy underarm padding). The Slim Fit option uses Bamboo Cotton + Spandex which feels softer to touch, is a tad more shiny and hugs the body more closely.

The Original Fit undershirt, while work well, do not hold the shape very well after a couple of washes and you are not going to feel too good about wearing it without an outer layer.

The Slim Fit version feels much premium and look good on the body. They also hold the shape quite well after a few washes and are quite presentable. They are still not in the same league as Modal fabric offered by some other brands, but is quite acceptable, especially at this price.

Thompson Tee Review – Comfort

As hinted before, the Thompson Tee undershirts do feel a bit bulky under the arms. It is to be expected to certain extent as that area has triple layers to provide the sweat proof barrier. Wearing the undershirt under a tee also made me a bit hot – the sweat did not show on outer layers, but I was a bit warmer than otherwise (especially for the original fit).

The original fit undershirt fits more like a full fledged, ill-fitting tee-shirt and is a few sizes loose. The Slim fit fits well (to me, in any case). Personally, I will never be seen in the Original Fit Thompson Tee – yes, it looks that bad after one wash. The Slim fit is way more pleasing to the eyes in the way it fits the body curves.

Thompson Tee Review – Price

Thompson tee sweat proof undershirt retails for $24.99 (original fit) or $29.99 (Slim Fit), and has sort of setup the pricing benchmark for this category of undershirts. The pricing, as compared to other brands, is average.

Verdict on Thomson Tee Sweat Proof Undershirt

In a nutshell, Thompson Tee is a safe choice – with its excellent Sweat Proof Performance and middle tier pricing, its not a bad option at all. The fabric and the fit leaves a bit to be desired and for this reason I think ItsDri or Ejis provide much better bang for your buck. If you do decide to go for Thompson Tee for some reason, I strongly recommend going for the Slim Fit option as for $5 more, you get a much better product.

Thompson Tee – User Reviews Below

Easy tucking. Comfortable and attractive . Pricey.

I usually sweat through a shirt at the arm pits in the first 20 minutes of putting it on. I've tried numerous antiperspirants but nothing really worked. Then I bought Thompson Tee undershirt and I've worn it twice. and no sweaty pits. I'll be ordering more! Thank you for this great product.

This shirt is pricey and the neck collar area in all of Thompson Tee's are extremely big and loose. Would much rather like a smaller collar area that doesn't feel so loose. However, they WORK well!

My husband really loves this shirt. Before, he needs to wear dress shirts for work and avoided wearing lighter colors because he tends to sweat. He decided to try out this under shirt and it works! He feels so confident when he goes to work. It's just that according to him, on the inside it feels damp to his skin.

I would say that Thompson Tees have literally changed my wardrobe forever as now I can buy nice shirts knowing that they don't have a time limit on them until the sweat stains kill them for good. They have a fitted cut so they are relatively tight, which is a good thing. The deep V-necks are nice and deep. Super, super thin material, but great padding under the pits. Definitely prevents a lot of pitting out of my dress shirts.

For me, it doesn't fit very well and is baggy. I still sweat through it. I'm out big bucks for a shirt that doesn't help out too much. Wouldn't buy again.

I have eight of these since September of 2013, four of them are now in the bin after about 15 washes. Washing does seems to eventually destroy the plastic sweat barrier. I would now classify them as semi-disposable.They work brilliant when new, but I think I might try the other brand to see if they offer more longevity.

I really wanted to love these. However, while the und we shirt works, it looks downright ugly after the first wash. I cant imagine what happens in a month! My advise.. find another brand that doesnt cut corners on quality if the fabric.

I like Thompson tees but the v neck is ridiculously big. Why? What reason? It shows through some of my dress shirts so now I have to be mindful of the type of dress shirts I wear with this. Really not impressed.

I sweat a lot. I'm self-conscious about the obvious sweat always lurking in my armpits. I typically wear layers or very dark shirts to mask the issue, and have a closet with light and colorful shirts that I rarely wear. Until my friend introduced to me this Thompson Tee. This undershirt absorbs the sweat fantastically, and I can now wear my light-colored shirts and raise my arms with confidence.

Thompson Tee Turns To Public For Domestic Manufacturing Support

Billy Thompson has tried vehemently to keep the entire supply chain of his T-shirt company located in the United States, but doing so is proving harder than he ever imagined.

Launched to the public in January 2012, his Thompson Tee apparel company makes T-shirts with a patent-pending technology that blocks underarm sweat and sells them to customers online through its website ThompsonTee.com.

Thompson says his business is sustainable and has been operating with a profit, but he's struggling to expand. He needs investors to step in to support the domestic manufacturing of his shirts, but he hasn’t been able to find them.

Investors have been reticent to support a company that makes all its clothes in the U.S., where labor costs are much higher than in most garment manufacturing hubs abroad, such as Bangladesh or Cambodia. In fact, Thompson has turned down investment offers that demanded he shift manufacturing operations overseas, he said in an interview with The Huffington Post.

“We don’t want to offshore production,” said Thompson. “We want everything to stay here. We’ve sacrificed a lot.”

Now Thompson is turning to the public for aid. On June 1, he's kicking off a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to help expand the company’s operations in the U.S.

“At this point we're in pretty desperate need for growth capital,” said Thompson.

He's looking to raise at least $25,000 to cover materials and labor to launch a new “Classic Tee,” without the added underarm protection, and to introduce black shirts to his line of products. The company promises that for every 2,000 shirts made by Thompson Tee, one American job will be added to its supply chain.

Thompson admitted he could knock down labor costs by at least half if he began making clothes abroad, but he wants to keep the operation domestic.

Thompson Tee vs Sweatshield Undershirts

A little over a year ago, a reader (John) with a heavy underarm sweating condition stopped by my site.

After some extensive research and a lot of article reading here, John decided to try out two different brands of hyperhidrosis undershirts – Thompson Tee & Sweatshield.

As of this writing, there are approximately 14 different brands of hyperhidrosis undershirts that I have come across.

Most of them have extra sweat-through prevention protection in the underarm only, while a select couple offer all-over sweat through protection.

John graciously has provided his feedback on which undershirt offered him better protection & a better overall experience.

Thompson Tee vs Sweatshield

2 x Products reviewed.

I have no commercial link to either company, this is my own personal review.

I am a 49 year old male who lives in the UK.

Firstly let me start by saying that finding these shirts was a miracle for me. I have tried everything to ‘cure’ hyperhidrosis and there is no cure.

You have to learn to manage it.

For me I suffer from overheating, which 99% of the time involves ‘wet’ underarms. There is no rhyme nor reason as to when they get wet.

It can be mid-winter or mid-summer. Also wearing a suit can be a nightmare as my underarms overheat as they cannot breath.

Sweatshield

Bought a 5 pack, mixture of V neck and round [crew] neck

Thompson T

Bought 5 x slim fit and V neck only

The Research

As my intro says this has been a long term issue for me.

Changed to a very good job about 2 years ago where at times I have to wear a suit jacket all day. I hate that as I have damp arm pits all day.

Looked again at many solutions including surgery, can’t remember why or how but came across sweat resistant T shirts.

I had no idea if they would work so initially looking at cost I went with Sweatshield, buying a combination of round [crew neck] and V neck.

After about a month of use I realized that they were very, very good and did solve the problem of sweat stains on work shirts.

Each to their own but I realized I had made one mistake. I had bought mostly round [crew] neck.

Often in work I don’t have to wear a tie and I didn’t like the T shirt showing. I decided I wanted V necks.

I also decided to invest in what I read were the best, Thompson T.

Here lies a problem for Thompson, they do not sell in the UK. For the UK they wanted $60 to ship. That’s a lot of postage. With some help here I used viabox and reduced that to $25.

However on arrival in the UK I got hit with a £35 import/Vat bill. Got 15% of for a 1 st purchase but all in all Thompson cost me twice the price of Sweatshield.

I have spoken to Thompson via Twitter and they say they will have a UK distribution channel soon.

Key differences

Photo shows, Sweatshield are longer, too long. I would say both are a little too long, lot to pack in a suit trouser along with a shirt.

The big difference is underarm.

Sweatshield feel much bulkier, they feel like a nappy under your arm.

Thompson feels much neater under the arm. If Thompson get a UK distribution arm I will most likely throw my Sweatshield out and get another 5x Thompson Tees.

That said I have tested both under very bad conditions and neither let through a drop of sweat.

Some final thoughts

  • Even though both are an additional shirt under other clothes they have not caused me to feel ‘extra’ hot
  • The slim fit from Thompson did feel much neater
  • I was in Spain recently in business. For the 1 st time in 25 years I could go out for dinner in chinos and a light blue work shirts. It felt lovely
  • Don’t be put off by what I said about Sweatshield, if budget is an issue then go with them. They do work.

The Winner

Thompson T are better but for me twice the price. Are they worth twice the price? In my opinion, yes.

I hope this helps people, feel free to ask questions.

Thank you for your info and forum.

Great intentions to keep things honest. I appreciate that!

What are the Thompson Tee like? Does the material last and/or stretch?

Tim Shaw didn’t care that I complained about how misleading he is on his website about the sweatshield and how long they last.

I brought it to his attention that these shirts have not lasted 6 months (worn and gently washed once a week each- less than 25 washes- and not the 1yr/52washes stated).

I was offered no solution or compensation. Just flicked!

Well, as a repeat customer I am annoyed to say the least!

Great shirt but Sweatshield undershirts don’t last! They wear thin and stretch way beyond wearable size.

(And I bet Tim Shaw will contact me now with an excuse or offer or accusation I work for the competition now that I’ve gone public-just watch- pffft!!)

I wrote the blog that Tug put up here.

I bought the bamboo Thompons Tee undershirts, have 10, bought over various intervals but most well over a year old now.

They are wearing fine, not stretching (they are stretchy anyway as fabric from day 1) and they don’t smell.

I will probably look to replace the oldest 5 which are 2 years old in the next few months but undershorts last way longer than really good work shirts so good investment.

As my blog said i am impartial and each make their won decision.

I tried both brands but swear by Thompsons, it is no exaggeration to say finding the changed my life.

Thank you for the insight and info John.

thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

just to make sure i’m clear on what your issue is, are you saying the shirt/fabric quality is questionable?

or, are you saying the underarm sweat-through prevention/protection didn’t last?

it sounds like you’re saying, that after 25 washes, the sweatshield undershirts lost their shape & stretchiness to a point they became unwearable.

that’s definitely unfortunate if that is the case.

just curious — was the underarm sweat-through protection affected?

Yes, the fabric is very questionable with the white fabric/undershirts.

I have found it does not last very long at all!

The under arm protection works well but the undershirt is un-wearable as it is so stretched out and thin and oversize.

Such a shame as I am happy to invest in a quality product but these Sweatshield undershirts don’t seem to last very long at all. :-(

ok, thanks mark. sorry to hear that sweat shield undershirts are not holding up.

do you have any photos you can share so we can see what you are referring to?

you can email me the photos, and i can post them here, or you can post them somewhere like google drive or dropbox, and put a link to them here.

hope to hear back from you!

Stay away from this company. Their products do not last and the company will not stand behind their product.

I have ordered several t-shirts only to arrive damaged.

SAVE your money and purchase t-shirts from another company that will stand behind their products and not just take your money.

Frank, which company, Thompson or Sweatshield. have to admit I have bought both and had interactions with both sets of customer services and both were great?

heya frank — good to hear from you buddy.

what company are you suggesting to stay away from?

there are two companies listed in this article, so i’m curious as to which one (thompson tee or sweatshield) you are referring to?

also, when you say items arrive damaged, what kind of damage are you referring to?

have you contacted the company about the damages, and if so, what have they told you?

heya john, frank emailed me back yesterday evening with the following:

“Hello, it’s the Thompson tee, they do not last and are not worth the money. I have had damaged thompson tee’s shipped to me also. – Frank”

i don’t recall hearing this kind of feedback before about thompson tee.

knowing billy thompson, i would think that if a customer reported quality issues or receiving damaged thompson tees, that he’d make it right.

hard to say ultimately what went down because frank didn’t provide any other details.

Tug, forgive the cynic in me but would like to know who Frank works for. If you have a beef give some details, I hate anonymous people who just pop up, say a company is crap and give no details.

I have a personal preference for Thompsons but nothing against Sweathsield. Been wearing Thompsons for nearly 2 years now and no issue.

heya john, yeah…i tend to feel the same.

not sure i buy it.

I do not work for any company related to clothing. I am customer who purchased several Thompson Tee’s . I’m sorry if my experience offends you.

Dear Tug and John

My name is Tim Shaw and I am the owner of Sweatshield Undershirt and thank you for the great website and for this interesting article.

I have seen these comments from Frank and now the comments from yourselves.

As this is an article comparing Thompson Tee to Sweatshield it would seem that you are implying I must in some way have something to do with the comment from Frank.

I would like it noted that these comments are not in any way related to me.

I too think the Thompson Tee is a great undershirt however I am always genuinely surprised how many times I hear the same feedback as that given by Frank.

If ever we are out of stock on any items I always suggest that the customer buys Thompson Tee and I very frequently get the feedback that they have tried them and did not like them.

I do find it surprising that both of you are are so vehemently claiming that Franks comments are not genuine and what that would imply towards my company.

If Frank doesn’t like the Thompson Tee then he doesn’t like it and I don’t really understand your “shock horror” in this.

Thank you again for the great site Tug.

Tim Shaw, Sweatshield Undershirt

heya tim, good to hear from you buddy!

i’m not implying anything specific, and surely not suggesting that frank is aligned in any way with your company (sweatshield).

that said, i do get quite a bit of spam comments and “planted” comments that either try to knock down one brand, or over-hype another.

while you may not see it, it happens on the back end here and i do my best to moderate them and keep the site clean of fake information.

i’m not saying that frank is saying something untrue, but when i asked him for additional details of his experience with thompson tee, he failed to elaborate.

my goal with the question of asking for more information is really simple — open up a dialog with a hope to get to the bottom of issue, and possibly find a solution.

as i’m sure this is the case with you, if a person came to my site mentioning a bad experience with your company, you’d probably appreciate some open dialog with the person to see if the issue could be rectified.

what i was trying to do with frank is see if he could provide more information about his experience so,

1. other people could read details and use that information to make an informed decision

2. see what types of things frank did to try and remedy the issue, which hopefully would provide more info for #1

3. have all the information there just in case thompson tee cared enough to investigate further and see if they could help frank, even though they may have missed the mark on the first couple goarounds

coming here and just saying that a company is bad, or provided bad service, doesn’t really truly help anyone — because it’s incomplete information.

that also holds true for overly positive comments as well, which can (and have been) planted here by company/brand/product representatives.

again, my goal is to just open up a dialog so anyone visiting the article and comments sections can make an informed decision on more complete information.

hope that makes sense.

as you can see, i haven’t removed frank’s comments because i do think it’s possible he had a bad experience with thompson tees.

i was (and am) hopeful he may take the time to provide more information about his experience, and about how he may have tried to remedy the issues with the company.

I bought Sweatshield Undershirts a few years back, it did change my life for sure like many others.

i too have a overheating problem, sweating anytime summer or winter (probably sweat if i lived in the north pole).

i have about 10+ white undershirts, i used them every day. i only have a few issues.

if you dont tuck the undershirt, it will roll up to my belly like a tank top and i’ll like a few other colour option.

Also like others have said when you wear a some polo shirts the undershirts arm doesnt show a bit.

but this product did change my life i cant fault it, i didnt like going out much in the past, i wore mostly black shirts to cover the sweat stain.

Am very pleased that Sweatshield are coming up with new product very soon, i got my credit card ready.

thanks for stopping by andre and sharing your sweatshield product feedback with us!

keep me posted if you try any new products from either of these companies, or even other companies.

you may want to checkout nanodri undershirts too.

My name is Tim Shaw and I am the founder of Sweatshield Undershirts.

Thanks for the awesome review and I am delighted that Sweatshield Undershirts changed your life.

There is nothing more amazing than the emails we get every week saying how we have changed peoples lives and its what keeps us going every day.

We have some very exciting new developments coming at Sweatshield Undershirts including a new fabric that we will be using in the underarm to make that underarm area super thin and ultra streamlined so that it will be barely noticeable.

The length of the undershirt is absolutely critical and we will never change that aspect.

It is the additional length that keeps the undershirt tucked in. This is a critical element in terms of stopping bunching up and the sheer annoyance of an undershirt coming untucked when worn under a shirt.

We have some extremely exciting new products coming soon that we have been working on for a very long time.

These new products will make a huge difference for suffereers of heavy sweating and we are super excited to be releasing them within the next few months.

Thanks again John and we wish you all the very best.

Thank you. I would challenge you over the length.

They are too long, when I put on one of your shirts it will actually fit down to crotch level. This too much cloth in the pants area of the suit trousers.

If you are wearing a pair of small speedos(!) then his might not be an issue but I am loose fitting boxers guy so way to much fabric down there, there is way to much bunching up down there.

The nature of the tight fitting fabric (both sweatshield and Thompson Tee) is such that they don’t ride up anyway.

Here is another project to develop!

A small arm one specifically to fit under polo shirts and the like.

As I mention on this thread I have bought medium Thompson Tees for a shorter arm to fit under casual shirts but even a medium (and I am a natural large) just about shows.

Potential to develop a short arm model for casual shirt times?

Look forward to seeing your new product when it comes to market.

As someone who knows someone with heavy sweating problems, thanks for this post! I’ll be sharing this with him soon…!

Greg, encourage him to read.

Choose your product yourself but they do work.

Been a suit on many a day where I dreaded taking it off but with both products to be fair not a drop has got through.

They pay for themselves as good shirts and suits are not cheap.

Also now I know I won’t ruin a suit or shirt I am able to buy nicer items and you do walk a little taller in a really nice suit!!

Hi Tug, thanks for posting this.

I trust people will see it as a fair review of both products.

My life has changed by finding Sweatshield and then on here doing some research on Thompson Tee, it was you that pointed me in the direction of the shipping method.

There is an addition to my story which I will give here..

‘Was in America in April on business so took the chance to buy some new Thompson Tee’s with a twist.

Also having them shipped to the hotel i was staying and got me free postage.

The twist is………. By nature I am a large, so have 5 x large bamboo v necks.

These are great under work shirts but under polo t shirts outside of work the arm is nearly showing.

I have now bought 4 x mediums.

The body fit is fine as the bamboo stretches, however the arm length is shorter so i will keep these for when I wear short sleeved casual tops.

Also flew long haul last week for the 1st time in a long time.

From leaving home to arriving in destination was 24 hours and 2 x flights. Normally I would stink or feel awful after 24 hours of having my arms tight by my side like you have on a flight.

Wore one under shirt for the trip and no issue. Felt much more at ease when traveling.

Feel free to ask any questions. All anon don’t be embarrassed.

Hyperhydrosis is an awful condition, this does help.

Thompson Tee Review -A great Tee to wear-

Thompson Tee Review

The Thompson Tee is becoming an increasing part of peoples regular attire. They work to absorb sweat to prevent soak through and staining. When coupled with an antiperspirant, it forms a powerful symbiotic duo that helps people regain confidence. We’ve broken down the key points in our Thompson Tee Review. Read on to find out more.

Athletes and proactive individuals love to see themselves drenched in their own sweat. Having sweat dripping down their body can mean they have had an excellent workout.

Sweating is not only good for athletes but for everyone. It’s what our bodies are meant to do. Perspiring regulates the body temperature, eliminates toxins, and cleans the skin pores. Some of us sweat more than others. This can be triggered by diet, smoking or any other variety of factors. Other have hyperhidrosis(like me, where we sweat for no particular reason). That said, excessive sweating has potential be a health concern, like when its cold out and your shirts are soaking through.

When you are sweating too much, pit patches or wet marks become visible on your clothing. This proves pretty embarrassing whether you are in school, office, meeting, or even worse – on a first date!

One option that has been proved to be effective in managing this condition is by wearing a sweat proof undershirt. The Thompson Tee Sweat Proof Undershirt is one of the best sweat-resistant shirt available on the market today.

Features of Thompson Tee

Thompson Tee is a favorite brand of sweat proof undershirts for men and women. Their product has been a favorite of almost all Hyperhidrosis sufferers. Is it worth your penny? Let’s find out.

  • The undershirt is made from 100% premium quality combed cotton with a slight combination of polyester.

  • The padded regions on the shirt are only selected. It makes the shirt not so protective.

  • The undershirt is sloppy and fitting.
  • The length is too long for what is necessary.

Summary on Thompson Tee

If you want an undershirt that can cover your awkward sweating, then the Thompson Tee Sweat Proof Undershirt is perfect for you. You get two benefits in one shirt. First, it keeps your sweat hidden, and second, it keeps you stylish and trendy.

Additionally, the undershirt is hypoallergenic because no chemicals are used for the production. The HydroShield™ feature ensures no patches of sweat will be visible on your shirt. The underarm sweat pad is a great feature of this undershirt – the concept is utterly brilliant! It helps you avoid getting wet armpit marks and yellow stains.

Alternatives

The best alternative option is the Sweat Proof Shirt from Ejis. The armpit part of the shirt is seamless, which means there is no risk of the sweat or stain to leak. The seamless feature means its non irritable too. It also has a silver fused fiber that combats the bacteria that causes odor.

It is also made from premium micro modal fabric that is softer and more water-absorbent compared to regular cotton. The shirt has a stretchy feature because of the spandex material used on the garment. The product is quite pricier than the Thompson Tee, but it is definitely worth the price.

Unlike the “paddy” underarm pads of the Thompson Tee, the armpit pads of the Aussie Armour Sweat Proof Undershirt are thinner and are less aggravating. The product is well designed; the company even promises to return the money to unsatisfied customers.

You could also try a clinical strength antiperspirant such as Certain Dri, Odaban or SweatBlock.

Verdict on Thompson Tee

Overall, the Thompson Tee Sweat Proof V-Neck is an undershirt worth buying. It has an impressive design and performance because it is made from premium materials. In addition, the shirt is surprisingly affordable than other competing brands with fewer features and qualities.

And although, sweat proof undershirts cannot treat your excessive sweating, they can help you manage your sweat and save you from the pitfall of embarrassment and discomfiture. They definately boosted my confidence!

Sweat proof undershirt brand Thompson Tee doubles revenue from $4 million in 2016 to $8 million in 2017.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (PRWEB) January 16, 2018

Premium sweat proof undershirt company Thompson Tee announced a strong year of fiscal and community growth in 2017. Major milestones included 100 percent year-over-year revenue growth, from $4 million in 2016 to $8 million in 2017.

In 2017, Thompson Tee also added five new products to its line of patented sweat proof undershirts for men and women. The company tripled its employee count and moved into a larger location in Southern California to accommodate global expansion — the fifth move in six years.

“Thanks to these achievements, we are well positioned to continue developing products, creating new jobs and helping more people deal with excessive underarm sweat in 2018,” said Billy Thompson, co-founder of Thompson Tee.

To date, Thompson Tee has helped more than 200,000 customers in 135 countries look and feel more confident by concealing underarm sweat.

Thompson Tee’s successful year included an appearance on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in May, where Thompson and co-founder Randy Choi were offered a $700,000 investment from investor Robert Herjavec.

In 2017, Thompson Tee also acquired competitor Advadri’s assets in a friendly takeover.

As the only patented sweat proof undershirt for men and women, Thompson Tee is guaranteed to conceal underarm sweat marks and stains. Its patented Hydro-Shield sweat proof technology completely absorbs underarm sweat while maintaining breathability, providing customers with added confidence and comfort.

Nearly 5 percent of the population suffers from hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. However, only half of people with the condition consult a doctor, so the prevalence rate is likely higher.

After years of suffering from axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating), Thompson was tired of wasting money on ineffective and invasive treatments. Choi also underwent invasive hyperhidrosis surgery that worsened his sweating condition. Together they set out to create a safe, effective and affordable solution to underarm sweat marks.

Since the company started in 2012, Thompson Tee has achieved consistent 100 percent year-over-year growth.

Thompson Tee Acquires Assets From Sweat Proof Undershirt Company Advadri

California-based sweat proof undershirt company acquires assets from competitor Advadri.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (PRWEB) December 21, 2017

Sweat proof undershirt brand Thompson Tee announced it acquired assets from competitor Advadri in a friendly transaction.

Thompson Tee developed the only patented sweat proof undershirts for men and women, guaranteed to block heavy underarm sweat. To date, Thompson Tee has helped more than 200,000 customers in over 135 countries prevent underarm sweat marks and stains.

“Advadri has been a long-standing respected company in our industry,” said Billy Thompson, co-founder of Thompson Tee. “We look forward to earning the trust and support of Advadri customers.”

Nearly 5 percent of the population suffers from hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. However, only 51 percent of people with the condition consult a doctor, so the prevalence rate is likely higher. Underarms are the most commonly afflicted area.

Thompson Tee’s patented Hydro-Shield sweat proof technology completely absorbs underarm sweat while maintaining breathability, providing customers with added confidence. The technology is integrated in the underarms of each premium undershirt to conceal sweat marks and stains.

With a shared mission to bring comfort and confidence to people who sweat excessively, the move was a natural conclusion for Advadri founder Judy Mayer's exit from the space.

“Although it’s been an amazing 17 years, I'm retiring so I can pursue volunteer work,” Mayer said. “I reached out to Thompson Tee, a proven market leader, to ensure my customers would be taken care of moving forward. I’m confident Thompson Tee will ensure they never have to deal with embarrassing underarm sweat stains again!”

After years of suffering from axillary hyperhidrosis, Thompson was tired of wasting money on failed sweat solutions. Thompson Tee co-founder Randy Choi also underwent invasive hyperhidrosis surgery that worsened his sweating condition. The two were determined to create a safe, effective and affordable solution to underarm sweat marks and stains.

Since the company started in 2012, Thompson Tee has achieved consistent 100 percent year-over-year growth. The brand has also been featured on ABC’s "Shark Tank," the "Today" Show, CNBC and more.

Thompson Tee on ‘Shark Tank’: A Look Inside the Sweat-Proof Undershirts

Published May 5, 2017 at 6:00pm

Thompson Tee entered the Shark Tank in Season 8 with their sweat-proof undershirts for both men and women which use an underarm sweat-proof technology.

We interviewed president Billy Thompson, who launched the company with his friend, Randy Choi. Both men suffer from hyperhidrosis aka excessive sweating, so had a vested interest in finding a solution. Choi told us that sales were $4 million in 2016 and that this year they expect to do $6 to $8 million before their Tank airing. “Not bad considering we started with $20,000 in start-up capital,” he noted.

Here’s what else he told us about…

How the Idea Came About

Necessity was the mother of invention. This was an issue I’ve dealt with since adolescence. Many guys wear undershirts to combat the problem, so I knew if an undershirt could simply block the sweat from passing, problem solved! However, like many things, easier said than done!

How the Partnership Formed

Our wives grew up together so I knew Randy was in the clothing business. I reached out to him and amazingly found out he dealt with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat) so he knew exactly what I was trying to do. Randy brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial domestic garment production experience and I had the sales and marketing experience (although neither of us knew anything about digital marketing and ecommerce). We met at a Starbucks in San Clemente CA, shook hands and the rest, as they say, is history! We’re 50/50 on this.

Nerves in the ‘Tank’

It was equal parts Hollywood and knowing just how much this could benefit our business. I fortunately had a lot of exposure in dealing with both Hollywood and high net worth individuals. My last two jobs were selling private jets and working for the William Morris Agency (now William Morris Endeavor). So we were able to fend off much of the anxiety and remain focused.

Be creative and polish your pitch, then show up in your best form with your passion ready to tell the world about your business!

Thompson Tee

Testing the Sweat-Proof Tee

A few weeks ago, I was watching a video on Real Men Real Style (I’m interested in having more masculine options for work clothes), and I learned about the Thompson Tee. They claim their patent technology “stops 100% of underarm sweat.” This sounded too good to be true. I sweat constantly, even when doing mundane things like eating a warm meal and walking my basset hound.

I reached out to Thompson Tee and asked to test their shirt. They sent me the shirt of my choice to put through the ringer of my life and share how it did. I selected the men’s slim fit v-neck undershirt in black, size small. The fabric is super soft and you can tell by the seams in the shirt and how the shirt fits that there is padding through the armpit. It was super comfortable to wear, but I had to see how it would hold up in sweaty situations.

People who aren’t involved in modeling or photography may not know that modeling makes you sweat, between the lights and having to hold awkward poses. This shoot was my first time doing male modeling. I wore a chest binder, my Thompson Tee, and a dress shirt and tie for most of the shoot. Towards the end, I did a few shots in just my Thompson tee and slacks. I was pleased that at the end of the night, there was no sweat on my dress shirt.

In case you didn’t know, it gets hot in Phoenix. During the day, our cars turn into ovens under the sun. When I first get in my car on a warm day, I often blast the A/C, or risk sweating buckets. I tested my Thompson Tee while wearing it with a dress shirt, and driving around with a friend visiting from out of town. After I dropped him off, I even turned off the A/C just see how the shirt would hold up while I was baking. Even after driving on a sunny day in Phoenix in a closed car with no A/C for 10 minutes, my dress shirt was still dry, even though I was definitely not dry inside my Thompson Tee.

The ultimate Thompson Tee test was Improv AZ’s Love and Complements Rally – standing at an sunny intersection (without shade) while holding a happy sign for 45 minutes in at least 95-degree heat. I could feel sweat sliding down my skin inside the shirt, but on the outside, I was completely dry. I even had friends touch my armpit to verify it. (They said I didn’t smell either – and these aren’t people who would be shy about that.)

Does the Thompson Tee work for containing armpit sweat? Yes.

Is it comfortable? Very. (And their sizing chart made it easy to discern which size I wear)

Thanks Thompson Tee for sending me a shirt and letting me test it out. It has definitely become part of my wardrobe (and that’s saying something given that I’m a minimalist).
