Coffee Art for Beginners
Opening of a typical Viennese coffee house in the old Villa Roßmann in the Kurfürstenstraße and the beginning of the EINSTEIN COFFEE history. The Austrian founder Uschi Bachauer brings the free spirit to the Café Einstein Stammhaus and organizes weekly concerts with the avant-garde of the new music scene.
The legendary Viennese coffee blend is developed, which will significantly influence the success of EINSTEIN KAFFEE.
The original site on Kurfürstenstraße becomes an institution known for the best blend in the city. Notable people come and celebrate the finest combination of the flair of the old days and the Berliner avant-garde. Roasting takes place in the in-house roastery in Moabit.
The second Einstein Café opens on Unter den Linden. The owner, artist and art dealer Gerhard Uhlig, exhibits works of international photographers in his gallery next door. Thanks to the advantageous location across from the Bundestag, numerous politicians gather here.
The unique EINSTEIN KAFFEE house concept emerges. One of the first stores on Friedrichstraße 185-190 opens its doors and presents the unique combination of roasted coffee and regional salads and sandwiches.
The Einstein concept is awarded the Foodservice Prize from the German publishing group Fachverlag for outstanding accomplishments in brand and system gastronomy.
Cafés are opened consecutively on Savignyplatz, Gendarmenmarkt, Ku’damm, Nordbahnhof, on Friedrichstraße and at Checkpoint Charlie.
The first EINSTEIN KAFFEE opens in Potsdam and is one of the first cafés to offer a wide selection of breakfast fare and outdoor seating.
On Alexanderplatz another EINSTEIN KAFFEE sets up shop around the world clock. The newly opened café at the Central Station in Berlin provides passengers with coffee delights for their travels.
A new café at Savignyplatz opens in the Bücherbogen and combines coffee culture with literature.

another coffee chain in Cairo’s
plethora of seemingly endless international brands, Einstein is actually a pleasant
option if you’re sick of the Costas and the Cilantros.

in 1988, ’Einstein has made its reputation as a place where creative, talented
and art lover [sic] people can meet and sprite [sic] themselves, while enjoying
the very special cup of coffee which is the art of Einstein,’ says its menu. Well, we’re not sure whether people were
‘spriting’ themselves when we were there; but it did seem like a cool place to

inviting, the café is as nice as any of the other major chains, but perhaps a
tad less pretentious. The staff is always friendly, smiling and eager; and
there’s plenty of varied seating, such as comfy armchairs to host just you and
a friend, long benches for a whole group, or a space at the window-side bar for
you and your laptop.
Free wireless internet
means the place is full of people studying or working. Flat-screen TVs also
attract football fanatics; so the small place can get rather packed. Usually the buzz lies somewhere in between,
with a few students working and Melody Hits playing on TV.
and a variety of really good fresh juices, Einstein also offers iced drinks,
cocktails, salads, sandwiches, and an assortment of desserts. We chose to sample their chocolate
lava dessert and a classic glazed donut to accompany our tangy fresh orange and
cake was all yummy gooeyness in the centre, but the outer layer didn’t taste
quite so fresh. And the glazed donut could
also have fared better; as it had a strangely soapy aftertaste. We concluded that their pastries probably
look better in the pastry display case. Two juices, a doughnut and the chocolate dessert added up to 50LE for the two of us.
Open till 1AM and
carrying a good magazine selection, Einstein is a low-key place to chill in for an
evening before heading home. Just watch
out for the gang of rowdy boys outside that make Hardees a popular hangout.
Going in the afternoon will guarantee you a table and some quiet.
Nice atmosphere, good service, and great juices.
Can get smoky and crowded, and the desserts disappoint.
