Germans Love of Coffee Sees Kaffee.de Be Year’s Biggest ccTLD To Date

Germans love their coffee, even if it’s mostly a strange filtered concoction that’s popular in northern Europe and north America. So the announcement of kaffee.de selling for €200,000 ($238,000) through Sedo to become the largest reported ccTLD domain name sale for 2017 is unsurprising. The sale more than doubles that of fetch.com.au, the previous biggest sale, which sold for $100,320, in April, reported Domain Name Journal.

For the week ending 10 September (yes, we’ve got a little behind reporting on top reported sales), coming in second and third behind kaffee.de was pisces.com and chop.com which sold for $80,000 and $70,000 respectively through BQDN.

BQDN took out 3 of the top 20 reported sales for the week, but Sedo easily topped it with BQDN. On the TLD side of things, there were 12 .com sales including <☯.com> which sold for $11,201. There were 4 .org sales, 2 for .de and one each for .media and .it.

OPAG GmbH, a coffee wholesale distribution specialist, has acquired the domain name Kaffee.de through Sedo for €200,000. Kaffee is German for coffee.

According to Namebio, this is the tenth highest publicly reported sale in Germany’s .de domain name of all time and the highest since 2014.

This is the second time Sedo has sold the domain name Kaffee.de. It sold the domain name for €100,000 in 2014, and now double that amount three years later.

Sedo broker Frank Tillmanns handled the sale.

We ordered the Entrecôte (sirloin) steak which is for two to share, it is served with chips, salad and a choice of sauces. The steak has to be the best I have ever had! We liked that we were shown the cut of steak for our approval before it was cooked. My wife is pregnant and the waitress was able to advise on which sauces etc would be most appropriate. A great evening out! We will visit again
